Egembee can be used for the word spirit, as in a spirit being, rather than the human spirit. The ancestors called God Egembee and said that he is hidden inside us and gives meat, food and children. Egembee is a general word and specific names for these gods also exist, with each place calling a different name. It could probably be used in the sense of gods or idols in the OT. It can be used of the God of the Bible, but brings baggage with it. It would probably work in the context of gods in general, of which God is the real one. Steve Aug 2024 |
