Description

We had visited Egigol Ume and next to Abanel's house there was a tree which had attracted a lot of butterflies. Stacie asked for a cutting and it turns out there was deeper significance to the tree. Kavaluku wanted to tell the stories and customs related to the tree

Variation

We later visited the grove with Kavaluku and a host of Torokum people. Text 4 is from that trip.

Interpretation

I had first thought the whole body was put in the tree, turns out the body was buried, exhumed, and just the femurs were put in the tree.

The grove used to be tambu but now there is a path through it. They still don't disturb the trees but they do hunt there
